A higher school of conservation and restoration will be opened by the Faculty of Architecture in Genova in the St. Kliment’s (Clement’s) University compound that is being re-established at Plaosnik in Ohrid. Professors from Italy and the IMG International Agency insisted to open a faculty where professionals in conservation of cultural heritage will be taught. Director of the Directorate for Protection of Cultural Heritager Pasko Kuzman explained that St. Kliment's University will not be an educational institution as is Ss. Cyril and Methodius University but a kind of a reminiscence and memory of St. Kliment and his work.
“But, we agreed to establish St. Kliment’s Conservation School in one section of the complex where Italian professors and professors from all over the world will teach. Together, they will produce professionals that will be of use for Macedonia. At Plaosnik, they can work practically and self-educate. As for us, we will complement what Macedonia lacks – conservators for architecture, icon drawing, fresco painting, metal, rock, wood, textile, glass," Kuzman says. The school will be accredited and will be able to issue certificates on the higher education level. Graduates having specialization will receive a diploma on the M.A. level.
