GRUEVSKI - THACI MEETING
National.
Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski held an informal meeting with Kosovo's Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, who arrived in Skopje for a fleeting visit early on Friday.
Macedonian Government's press service said the informal meeting of Gruevski and Thaci focused on the demarcation of Macedonia's northern border with Kosovo.
There were no other details in the poor-worded statement released by the Government. The meeting took place before the imminent declaration of independence by Kosovo, slated for this weekend. The statement mentioned nothing about the venue of Gruevski-Thaci meeting.
The brief statement just said "the interlocutors have reaffirmed their stands in terms of supporting the Ahtisaari's plan."
MD: Kosovo will most likely declare independence tomorrow, will there be any escalations? Let's hope not, that would mean again a big dark cloud above this region of Europe. Macedonia will recognize the independence of Kosovo, they will follow the steps of what the EU would do. Also Thaci said that the border issue will be solved through direct talks with the Kosovo government.
