On occasion of the 60th anniversary from the exile of Macedonians from the Aegean part of Macedonia, a gathering was held Sunday in Skopje's recreational center "Saraj".
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski addressed the gathering, organized by the Coordination Committee of the associations of Macedonians from the Aegean part of Macedonia.
"When I speak about our history, my feeling and intention is best described through the words of former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, uttered at the holocaust conference in 2000, 'Although I have forgiven, I swore not to forget anything and remember everything. The care for one's past, the non-forgetting is another trait of the civilized world. It represents the foundation of identity'", said Gruevski.
He added, "There is no administrative method to erase the memory of who you are. Yes, force can subdue and cover the existence of a truth, but this cannot be eternal. I understand the position of our neighbor. This is not fear from us, from our alleged pretensions, but fear from the truth".
Gathering participants are to adopt a declaration on the Greek genocide on Macedonians.
Moreover, the event will be enriched through the performance of cultural-artistic clubs "Tanec" from Skopje, and "Drimkol" from Vevcani, as well as a number of entertainers.
