CLEANING UP AFTER FLOODS IN KUMANOVO

The authorities will launch an operation to clean the mud and dirt at critical points in Slupcanska River to prevent re-flooding, Crises Management Center (CMC) said on Thursday.
The torrential rain caused heavy floods in Kumanovo-Lipkovo areas, where more than 150 hectares of arable land and around 100 homes were flooded, particularly in the villages Matejce, Slupcane, Orizare, Otlja, Opae and Lopate.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Aco Spasenoski and CMC chief Pande Lazarovski toured the flooded areas to make preliminary damage assessment. Three critical points at Slupcanska River must be eliminated to prevent re-flooding.
Lipkovo mayor called for formation of a panel to assess the damage caused by floods.
