The Museum of Macedonia is organizing three major presentations of the archaeological and ethnological treasure in Serbia, Italy and Slovenia during May as part of activities for marking the day of Museums, 18th May.

An exhibition entitled Macedonian Bronze (so far presented in Skopje, Stip, Strumica, Zagreb, and in Rome last year) will be opened in the Museum of Novi Sad on 7th May within the activities to mark the Day of Ss. Around 400 valuable original archaeological findings from the Iron Age (6 – 7 B.C.) unearthed in sites throughout Macedonia, three tomb reconstructions from the Lisicin Dol and Sredno Nerezi and a famous sculpture of the Paeonian nun, authored by sculptor Srecko Jovanovski will be presented.

A selection of the most valuable material from the Neolithic unearthed over decades in the country, will be presented at the National Museum in Ljubljana on 28th May in a show entitled “Neolithic Art in Macedonia.”

Program Director of the Museum of Macedonia Pero Josifovski says this elite presentation will first display 84 items dating top the Early and Late Neolithic Eras. Ljubljana National Museum will publish a catalogue in Slovenian and English and there are announcements that the show moves to other cities in Europe as well.

An ethnological exhibition, Macedonian Folk Costumes and Jewellery, will be opened at the palace of the Italian Ministry of Culture and Protection of Cultural Heritage in Rome on 23rd and 24th May within a traditional event, Macedonian in Honour to St. Cyril. Forty-eight items of jewellery including belts, bracelets, money bags and others from Blatija (Skopje area), Dolni Polog (Tetovo area), Reka (Gostivar area) and 76 parts of folk costumes will be presented.
