The guard house on the Stone Bridge, which had waited for restoration for four years, was completed yesterday. This recognizable and distinguishing detail of the bridge erected by Justinian I in the sixth century and later restored by Sultan Murat II in the first half of the 15thcentury has been completely restored by the government.
On that occasion, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said: “Although it is completely restored and put in use, works on this bridge should continue to bridging the differences between people in Macedonia having in mind their multuculture, multireligion and multiconfession. It is this moment that should be a sign of union of such differences towards development of a more stabile and European Macedonia," the Prime Minister said.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Arifhikmet Xhemaili, State Secretary of Culture Elizabeta Kancevska-Milevska and Director of the Institute for Protection of Monuments of Culture Pasko Kuzman.
