CYRILLIC, MACEDONIAN GREATEST BRAND

“Macedonian Cyrillic script is one of our greatest brand we can be proud of and we should keep and modernize. When we set the basic principles of this campaign, we did not hope for such great support in the public,” Ivo Laurencic, director of Idea Plus Communications and one of the initiator of the project “I Keep What Is Mine – While I Write in Cyrillic, I Exist” in a press conference yesterday.
Ana Jankovska of Idea Plus Communications marketing agency said the project for preservation, use and modernisation of the Macedonian Cyrillic was expected to end on 10th June. However, because of the great public interest and endeavour by the scholarly and expert community, its implementation will resume as of September.

I really dont understand this. The Cyrillic alphabet is used by around 240 million people. Why is it a 'Macedonian' brand - especially since the 1946 Skopje version departs from Old Slavonic and includes one or two Latin letters.
