MARKING OF BORDER BEGINS
National.
The demarcation of the Macedonian-Kosovar border kicked off today by laying of a tri-border marking between Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania.
The first border point has been placed at the locality of Sherupa on Sara Mountain, 2,100 meters above the sea level. Representatives of the Macedonian and Kosovo's authorities as well as of the Albanian Embassy in Skopje and of the international community, were present at the event.
The marking of the border is carried out in line with the Agreement on Description and Stretching of the State Border, signed between Macedonia and the former SR Yugoslavia and is compliant with the UN mediator in the Kosovo status talks, Martti Ahtisaari.
The length of the Macedonia-Kosovo border totals 150 kilometers.
According to the announcements, due to the specific configuration of the terrain, the demarcation will be carried out with faster pace during the summer period.
