TALKS TO RESUME IN NEW YORK
The talks on name differences between Macedonia and Greece are set to continue at the UU headquarters in New York later this week.
UN mediator Matthew Nimetz will meet with Macedonian negotiator on Friday. Nimetz is scheduled to meet with the Greek negotiator on Monday, Greek Kathimerini daily said on Wednesday.
Macedonian top officials gathered on Tuesday to thrash out the issue and to build a common stance in the talks on name differences with Greece.
After the meeting, that took place in President Crvenkovski's Cabinet, the officials made no statements to reporters.
The aim of the meeting was to review the ideas put forward by Nimetz during his recent visit to Macedonia and to set a common position over the roadmap for the talks on the name issue.
During the visit to Skopje and Athens two weeks ago, Nimetz put forward a proposal that envisions Macedonia's name be changed into Northern Republic of Macedonia or Republic of Northern Macedonia. The new name is designed for international use and also in passports, media said, adding that Macedonia was urged to give up its Ancient past.
