15 NEW INTERNET CAFES TO BE OPENED BY THE GOVERNMENT

Government will open new, free Internet clubs in 15 cities across Macedonia in order to bring the information technologies closer to citizens, IT Minister Ivo Ivanovski told reporters on Saturday.
- Opening of the new and functioning of the existing free Internet clubs will improve the access to information, thus bringing benefit to the society in general. The aim is to increase the Internet access for citizens, i.e. the so-called e-inclusion, Ivanovski said.
The new free clubs will be opened in Veles, Strumica, Debar, Probistip, Berovo, Makedonski Brod, Sveti Nikole, Radovis, Kratovo, Delcevo, Valandovo, Stip, Krusevo, Struga i Vinica.
Budget funds of Denar 20 million have been earmarked for initial financing of the new Internet clubs, Ivanovski said.
Last year, the Government opened 15 clubs, which according to analyses have been mostly visited by young people (from seven to 26 years of age).
The free Internet clubs are part of two projects - 'World in Your Palm' and 'Internet Access for Citizens', incorporated in the Government's strategy for development of IT society.
