FITZGERALD: NAME ISSUE CRUCIAL FOR NATO

Admiral Mark Fitzgerald, Commander of NATO's Allied Joint Force Command Headquarters Naples, expressed regrets that Macedonia was not invited to NATO although it completed the necessary reforms.

Admiral Fitzgerald met today with President Branko Crvenkovski. He reiterated that name dispute with Greece is the sole obstacle to Macredonia's NATO entry. He also expressed hope taht the issue will be solved in due time.

Admiral Fitzgerald expressed gratitude on Macedonia's tremendous contribution to NATO-led peacekeeping missions in crisis regions.

Admiral Fitzgerald voiced hope that forthcoming elections in Macedonia will be conducted in democratic atmposhere.
