MACEDONIAN AND ALBANIAN STUDENTS IN SEPERATE ETHNIC CLASSES
National.
As of Tuesday, 10th February, the students in the Struga's high school Niko Nestor will attend classes in two shifts, divided on the basis of their ethnic belonging.
According to media reports, the School Board adopted this decision at the meeting that took place Monday. It was supported by the teachers as well as by representatives of the Parents' Council, of the local self-government and the Education Minister Pero Stojanovski himself.
The decision is of interim nature and will remain effective till the end of this school year.
However, the teachers of Albanian ethnic origin said they were against ethnicity-based divisions in the high-school. The principal Mare Bojcevska-Saveska came forward with similar stance.
The decision followed the latest in the series of massive feast-fights between the Albanian and Macedonian students, which took place on 20 and 21 January.
