SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS IN HERAKLEA

Culture.

Coins, a mead mug and utensils have been unearthed at the ancient site of Heraklea. According to Anica Gjorgievska and Engin Nasuh, the artefacts will enrich significantly the collection of the Bitola Museum.

The intensive excavations of Heraklea point to new evidence about the settlement.

Nasuh says that the unearthing of the South Wall has revealed that life in the settlement did not end in the 6th century B.C. but lasted a few more centuries.

“Unearthing of the South Wall is opening new evidence and findings speaking of the life in Heraklea not having ended in the 6th century B.C. Rather, it continued for at least two or three centuries and ended in the late 3rd century B.C.”

A group of students of archaeology from the United States, Canada, Britain and Australia is attending educational training at the Heraklea site within an international project coordinated by the Youth Cultural Centre in Bitola.

Heraklea is Macedonian its not greek, Greece has nothing to do with Macedonian History.

The Name Greece and Hellenic never existed in ancient times. the word greece and hellenic where created in the 1830s this makes this so called ancient country 179 years old. see that in itself is proof that the Greeks had nothing to do with Alexander the great and his Macedonians because they didnt even exsit. even Australia is older then these so called ancient people.

Macedonia was never Greek Macedonia is 4 the Macedonians

Macedonia was the largest Empire in the world.

Alexander the Great Empire was called the Macedonian Empire.

Alexander the Great spoke in Macedonian he never spoke greek because greece never existed then

infact the greeks today speak in a lot of different dilect languages like Vlah,Slavic,Turkish,Albanian Karpousia means water melon its a turkish word its not greek.

Alexander the Great was a Macedonian his farther was Macedonian his Mother was Iranian in the Modern era Iranians are Albanians most of Athens in Ancient times was populated with Albainas but today speak greek by force and tought the lanugage of the koin that today is called greek but before this date know one called this language greek it was just given to them by the super powers at the time. they united all the borders to keep russian out of the region so they fabricated this state and called it greece. i know it sound like im making this up but its true. these are the stories that people wherent ment to find out but they ended up finding out because a secret is never a secret things always leak out and the world always finds out.

Hraklea, Macedonia and Alexander the Great are 100% Greek and our history dates back to 35,000 bc. Now you so called Macedonians from Bulgaria have no conection to Greek Macedonians. Do you know what Heraklea means? You are Bulgarians who happen to have the luck of residing in the acient region of Greece Macedonia and have only been in this region for aprrox 200 years. How can you be so idiotic to beleive that this is your history and if you had taken some history lessons and looked at the writin on Alexander the Greats statue you would soon realise that any greek can read the writings on the statue and tell you what it says as I am sure you do not have a clue. BULGARIAN fool you are Bulgarian and live in Vardar as you had named this region after Tito the turk had let you in this region in 1830 and as to your comment on Greece being 179 years old how did you find this out was it suddenly a thought you had after a wild night on the slimovits . It is people like you that are giving the impression that everyone from FYROM (Bulgarian Vardar) are uneducated peasants. It is like making a statement that England was not England but was South Africa you fool.

History
Early history and legend
The lands around Aegae, the first Macedonian capital, were home to various peoples. Macedonia was called Emathia (from king Emathion) and the city of Aiges was called Edessa, the capital of fabled king Midas. According to legend, Caranus, accompanied by a multitude of Greeks came to the area in search for a new homeland [5] took Edessa and renamed it to Aegae. Subsequently, he expelled Midas and other kings off the lands and he formed his new kingdom. According to Herodot, it was Dorus, the son of Hellen who led his people to Histaeotis, whence they were driven off by the Cadmeians into Pindus, where they settled as Macedonians. Later, a branch would migrate further south to be called Dorians [6].

It seems that the first Macedonian state emerged in the 8th or early 7th century BC under the Argead Dynasty, who, according to legend, migrated to the region from the Greek city of Argos in Peloponnesus (thus the name Argead).[7] It should be mentioned that the Macedonian tribe ruled by the Argeads, was itself called Argead (which translates as "descended from Argos").

The kingdom was situated in the fertile alluvial plain, watered by the rivers Haliacmon and Axius, called Lower Macedonia, north of the mountain Olympus. Around the time of Alexander I of Macedon, the Argead Macedonians started to expand into Upper Macedonia, lands inhabited by independent Macedonian tribes like the Lyncestae and the Elmiotae and to the West, beyond Axius river, into Eordaia, Bottiaea, Mygdonia, and Almopia-, regions settled by, among others, many Thracian tribes.[8] Near the modern city of Veria, Perdiccas I (or, more likely, his son, Argaeus I) built his capital, Aigai (modern Vergina). After a brief period under Persian rule under Darius Hystaspes, the state regained its independence under King Alexander I (495–450 BC).

Macedon during the Peloponnesian War around 431 BC.In the long Peloponnesian War Macedon was a secondary power that alternated in support between Sparta and Athens

A FEW EXCERTS FROM AN INTERNATIONAL COURT WEBSITE

"Macedonia is an indispensable part of Greece's historical heritage it cannot identify, in an ethnic sense another nation."

12. "It was the Greek language that was taken to Asia (Bible written in Greek) and cities with Greek names and institutions that were founded."

17. "By appropriating and maintaining the name 'Macedonia' the Slavs are laying the foundations for future territorial claims against the region of the same name in Greece. They have clearly expressed this intention by:- (a) plagiarizing and blatantly falsifying history (b)... continuously using maps and emblems that include northern Greece as part of 'Macedonia~ and (c) refusing to comply with the directive of the European Community in its declaration of 16th December 1991 to (i) cease hostile propaganda; (ii) commit itself to guarantees that it has no territorial claims and (iii) not use a denomination (Macedonia) which implies expansionist intentions."
