After a three-year break, the exhibition “World Gallery of Caricatures” will be put up in Skopje again.
The opening of this year’s 40th jubilee edition, staged by Osten magazine, is scheduled for Thursday at 20:20 hrs.
More than 300 cartoonists from 40 world countries applied with some 600 works after publication of the international public announcement. About 30 authors from Macedonia will also display their caricatures.
The members of the jury commission, chaired by Darko Markovic, a cartoonist from Macedonia, decided to award the Grand Prix to Robert Dandarov from United States.
This year, the “World Gallery of Caricatures” marks the 40th anniversary. The event, staged for the first time in 1969, was conceived as a means to express gratitude toward all those from across the globe, who helped in reconstruction of Skopje that was razed by a disastrous earthquake in 1963.
