MACEDONIAN BRONZE ITEMS TRAVEL TO ROME

Culture.

An exhibition, “Macedonian Bronze” with 7th and 6th centuries B.C. items will be set in Roma within ceremonies honouring St. Cyril in the Italian capital. The show is organized by the Museum of Macedonia.

“Italy is a country of archaeology, but Macedonia is also such a country. We want to present ourselves in Italy with a part of archaeology that is unknown to them,” Pero Josifovski, Programme Manager of the Museum of Macedonia says.

The show consists of bronze items – bracelets, pendants, necklaces, buttons, earrings, small vessels such as jugs etc. found in necropolises in Lower Vardar areas. The items date to the 7th and 6th B.C. A part of the original exhibition is reconstruction of a “woman priest’s tomb” full of items, which was unearthed at Lisicin Dol, Marvinci site near Valandovo 10 years ago. The authors of the show are archaeologists Zlatko Videski and Strahil Temov of the Museum of Macedonia.

MD: That's great, let's hope it will get alot of interest and that we can continue to see such events!
