National.

Macedonia was ranked 84th in the Global Corruption Perception Index 2007 (CPI), released today by Transparency International (TI), with a significant improvement comparing with 2006 rankings.

The results of the survey conducted by Transparency International (TI) were announced Wednesday by Sladjana Taseva, the president of Transparency - Zero Corruption.

Macedonia's score on the Corruption Perception Index, based on six separate surveys conducted mainly in 2007, is 3.3 of possible 10.

The 2007 Corruption Perceptions Index looks at perceptions of public sector corruption in 180 countries and territories. It scores countries on a scale from zero to ten, with zero indicating high levels of perceived corruption and ten indicating low levels of perceived corruption.

Denmark has edged up to share the top score of 9.4 with Finland and New Zealand.
