OHRID PEN CONFERENCE

The Tenth Ohrid PEN Conference, attended by 60 authors and representatives of PEN organizations from 20 countries, was opened in Ohrid on Friday.

"Macedonian PEN, since its inception until today left inerasable marks in Macedonian culture and society, always defending the freedom of authorship and thought", Risto Lazarov, president of Macedonian PEN, said.

The working part of the conference started with round table on the topic "Poetry and the divine", and will continue late Friday with literary reading in the St. Sophia church in Ohrid, where awards to past presidents of Macedonian PEN will be awarded.

On Saturday, as announced, a meeting of the Committee for Translation and Linguistic Rights will held, and a proposed declaration for protection of linguistic and cultural rights of Aromanians - Vlachs.


MD: The declaration, upon initiative from the Macedonian PEN, should be adopted next year at the conference of International PEN that will be held in Columbia
