MACEDONIA - MONTENEGRO RELATIONS "HISTORICALLY FRIENDLY"

National.

The relations between Macedonia and Montenegro are "historically friendly and extraordinary" and both countries need to boost the bilateral relations both on regional and European level.

This is the conclusion of the meeting between the Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and the Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, who kicked off his two-day visit to Macedonia on Wednesday.

"The relations between the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of Macedonia are historically friendly and extraordinary", Vujanovic said, reiterating Podgorica's position that Macedonia's membership in EU and NATO is of interest of both countries.

Gruevski on his part voiced support to Montenegro's aspirations to join the A3 Group, pointing out that the two countries are "good partners" that need to work bilaterally on both regional and European level.

The issue of final status of Kosovo as well as modalities for enhancing the regional cooperation was among the highlights of the talks, Macedonian PM's Cabinet announced.
