OHRID SUMMIT HAS HISTORIC IMPORTANCE FOR MOC
National.
The world conference on dialogue among religions and civilizations in Ohrid represents a historic event for the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC), said MOC's secretary Kliment, the Bishop of Heraklea.
He added that the event would have a positive impact on the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Makfax correspondent reported.
"Bringing together so many archimandrites from the orthodox churches of the Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Finland is bound to have a positive effect on resolution of the problem, which MOC carries as open wound as it persists in its existence and the fight to preserve its autocephaly status, independence and name," Bishop Kliment said.
As regards the open issue with the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Kliment said that MOC remains on its stance that a dialogue is necessary, adding however that there is no response to the calls on dialogue from the other side.
MD: Even though invited, representatives of the Greek Orthodox Church did not went to Ohrid, which MOC's secretary attributes to the ongoing political battle on the name with Greece.
