TRUTH ON ARCHBISHOPRIC MAY NOT BE REFUTED WITH ARGUMENTS

Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia H.H. Stefan stated on Thursday that the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) has a long history and that the truth about the Ohrid Archbishopric may not be refuted with arguments. - Ultimately, I expect the other orthodox churches to accept the reality with MOC, because we've endured for 40 years despite all blockades and obstacles that we've faced with neighbouring churches, denying not only the existence of MOC as canon heir of the Ohrid Archbishopric, but they also deny the Macedonian nation, language, culture, history and everything that is Macedonian, said H.H. Stefan after Thursday's religious service on the occasion of Holy Cross Day in St. Clement of Ohrid Temple in Skopje.
He added MOC, given its foreign relations, will resume the activities and contacts with other churches, expressing hope that they will prove to be successful.
MOC delegation in the spring visited the Patriarchate and Moscow. Meanwhile, there was positive response in terms of accepting the invitation for talks by the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) and by Athens.
- SOC accepted to hold talks with MOC. We've said we won't accept any conditions. Nevertheless, having in mind the aggravated health of both heads of churches, the Belgrade and Athens talks have been postponed for better times, highlighted H.H. Stefan.
Given the recent adoption of the Law on Religious Communities, the MOC head said the Law's text was appropriate, whereas it all depended on its implementation.
- I hope the Law on Religious Communities will protect MOC's interests and those of the remaining churches and religious communities in Macedonia, stated H.H. Stefan.
In honour of MOC's 40th jubilee, H.H. Stefan said that observance ceremonies will be held this fall in different eparchies.
