45 MILLION OF STATE FUNDING FOR AGRICULTURE

The Macedonian government unveiled plans for introduction of a series of measures aimed at development of the agriculture sector, involving 45 million euros of state funds.
PM Nikola Gruevski announced the measures at the meeting with a delegation of agriculture producers, led by the President of the Farmers' Association Veljo Tantarov.
According to Gruevski, the price per kilogram of purchased tobacco is set to 30 denars, which marks 100% increase compared with the last year. In addition, the farmers involved in wheat, maze, barley, rice, soy and oil beat production will be subsidized with 100 euros per hectare of sown area.
The newly introduced measures include also a subsidy of 2 denars per delivered liter of milk and delivered kilogram of grape.
The current 80.000 denars of subsidy per planted hectare will rise to 120.000 denars.
More incentives are also planed for the young farmers and for encouragement of the agricultural activity in the hilly areas.
Gruevski reminded on the government's decision adopted in August 2007, pursuant to which the incentives for the agriculture sector are planed to reach 70 million euros until 2009 and 100 million euros until 2010
