US TO PUSH FOR NAME SETTLEMENT
National.
The new government in Skopje will be formed very soon, and this means that Athens will see a big push by Washington for a near-term solution to the name issue, Greek Ta Nea daily said.
The paper quotes unnamed diplomats as saying that the United States is expected to pile pressure for quick settlement of the name dispute between Macedonia and Greece at the upcoming meeting of the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis.
The same sources say the UN mediator Matthew Nimetz will visit Skopje and Athens soon. He is likely to table a new proposal on the name.
