DIGITAL ARCHIVES OF MACEDONIAN LANGUAGE
National.
The first Digital Archives of Macedonian Language was promoted Wednesday in the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts (MANU).
The project is supported by the Government, within manifestation "Year of Macedonian Language".
"It it very important that we care about the Macedonian language, its purity, regular use, and true meaning. I hope that the Digital Archives will gradually enrich, enlarging its comprehensiveness, and improving its technical quality", said at the promotion MANU vice-president, academician Bojan Soptrajanov.
President of the "Year of Macedonian Language" Board, Liljana Popovska stressed the project's significance due to its electronic presentation of the most important texts in Macedonian language.
"Anyone can search, quote parts of Macedonian language texts. Authentic speakers of 80 years ago from the Salonica region in Northern Greece of today will be presented at the Internet. I think we cannot find a better argument on the depth of the Macedonian roots, authenticity of the Macedonian identity", stated Popovska.
According to her, the project would be an introduction in future research by followers and friends of the Macedonian language, who can learn more about us and our identity through the materials.
Project coordinator, professor Marjan Markovic said it would contribute to the availability of these digital books worldwide.
"These are the strongest arguments not only on the existence and authenticity of the Macedonian language, but also its history, since it encompasses texts by foreign scholars who showed interest in Macedonian dialects from Aegean Macedonia (Salonica region), and Albania (Korca region) 70-80 years ago", said Markovic.
