FIVE MACEDONIAN PREMIERES AT OHRID SUMMER

A record number of premieres from the Macedonian theatre production will be held at this year’s “Ohrid Summer” festival. Selector Gjorgji Jolevski said five premieres created upon classical texts will be held.
Skopje-based Drama Theatre will play Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, directed by Kole Angelovski on July 15, Skopje’s MNT prepares “Dundo Maroe” by Marin Drzic, directed by Dragana Milosevska-Popova for July 20, “Romeo and Juliet” by Shakespeare, directed by Dejan Projkovski, produced by the Turkish Theatre is scheduled on July 25. Moreover, the Albanian Theatre will perform opera “American Myth” upon the libretto of Harli Erdman, composed by Paula Kinter, directed by Natasa Poplavska, under the baton of Saso Tatarcev on July 29, whereas Bitola Theatre will promote “Alchemeon of Corinth” by Euripides, directed by Colin Tiven from England on August 19.
Festival director Toni Simonovski says this year’s festival budget amounts to Denar 30 million (Euro 500,000), of which more than half are allocated by the Ministry of Culture
