GREECE SHOULD SEE MACEDONIA'S NATO ENTRY
National.
Greece should comprehend that differences on Macedonia's name should not hamper Macedonia's NATO membership, former U.S. ambassador said.
Robert Hunter, the former president of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) and former U.S. ambassador to NATO, told Radio Deutsche Welle's Macedonian news that Macedonia should join NATO as soon as possible.
Hunter said it's important that Macedonia gets its place in all Euro-Atlantic institutions, including NATO.
"It's also important that Alliance's good ally - Greece - to become aware that it's better to have Macedonia in the Alliance than taking care about small linguistic and semantic problems. Macedonia is Macedonia. It can be an excellent ally, the sooner the better," Hunter said.
Hunter attends a three-day meeting entitled "NATO Talk around the Brandenburg Gate", taking place in Berlin.
