MACEDONIAN - POLISH CULTURAL COOPERATION
Culture.
Polish experts will assist Macedonia in conservation and protection of the cultural heritage in the following period. At the same time, the number of experts offering their knowledge to our country will be increased. This is only a segment of the Cooperation Programme between Macedonia and Poland for 2009-2010 that was signed in Warsaw yesterday by the Macedonian Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski.
“The Republic of Macedonia is a great friend and supporter of our country. The signing creates opportunities for exchange of creative energy between artists, who will get closer cultures of the two countries as catalysts and contribute to deepening and developing the overall interstate relations,” Kanceska-Milevska said.
Macedonia and Poland has had prolific cooperation in film art. Our films have been presented in international film festivals in Poland, and support has been given for a Macedonian—Polish co-production, “The Yellow Rose” by Antonio Mitrikeski.
In literature and publishing, participation of Polish representatives in the Struga Poetry Evenings and the International Meeting of Literary Translators in Tetovo as well as participation of Polish Slav-language experts in Seminars on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture in Ohrid is remarkable. As for the stage music activity, cooperating between the Macedonian Philharmonic and corresponding institutions and conductors and soloists in Poland has been established, and Polish soloists have taken part in the May Opera Evenings.
The Struga Poetry Evenings has signed Cooperation Agreement with the Warsaw Poetry Evening that will be attended by Macedonian poets.
Minister Kanceska – Milevska has invited her Polish counterpart to be her guest for the Ohrid Summer Festival.
