REMAINS OF FOSSIL ELEPHANT UNEARHTED
National.
A team of experts of the Museum of Science of Macedonia has found bones of a mastodon, or a fossil elephant at the village of Stamer site, Delcevo Area.
The team has started work at the pre-historical tomb Stamer last week and it was in the initial days of the excavation that they unearthed the lower jaw of the mastodon, a finding that initiated a search for the ivories of this pre-historical elephant.
Scholars believe the fossil remains date back to 4 to 7 million years ago, lose to the period man was developed.
MD: Wow, that's really cool! Some Dutch archeologist found one last July in Aegean Macedonia (Northern Greece) too.
