NORWEGIAN TV : MACEDONIAN SCANDAL

National.

Norwegian State TV broadcasted a commentary friday, titled "The Macedonia Scandal, related to the Bucharest Summit decision to extend no invitation to Macedonia for NATO membership.

The commentary's author, leading foreign policy journalist Jahn Otto Johansen says that the really great scandal at the Bucharest-meeting was how Macedonia was treated.

Macedonia has a good functioning democracy, at least compared with the Balkan standard, and has no territorial conflicts with the neighbors, even though some of the most extrememistic Albanians wish an alliance with Kosovo. The reason for Macedonia being shown the 'winter way', is that the Greek are not willing to give in to the name question, Johansen says.

Greece does not even accept a compromise given by the UN Mediator, namely that the republic could be called 'Republic of Macedonia – Skopje'.

Athens was not to be moved from their opinion that Macedonia should either continue being called FYROM or take the absurd name 'Upper Macedonia'. the commentary's author says.

He considers that the way Macedonia was treated in Bucharest, is directly harmful for the efforts to create peace and stability at the Balkan.
- The fact that the general secretary of NATO on beforehand gave the impression of taking the Greek side and also that President Bush did not put more pressure on Greece, shows that they did not understand how serious the situation is, Johansen says.

MD: It seems that the whole world understands us, and is angry at Greece, how do you feel now Mr.Karamanlis and Ms.Bakoyannis??

Alexander the Great (Greek: Αλέξανδρος ο Μέγας or Μέγας Aλέξανδρος,[1][2] Megas Alexandros; July 20 356 BC – June 10 323 BC),[3][4][5] also known as Alexander III, was a Greek[6][7] king (basileus) of Macedon (336–323 BC). He was one of the most successful military commanders in history, and was undefeated in battle. By the time of his death, he had conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks.
