MACEDONIA BECOMES MEMBER OF UNHCR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Macedonia together with Montenegro, Luxembourg and Benin was elected as a member state of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner's Programme (ExCom), the UNHCR Office in Skopje said in a press release on Wednesday.
ExCom meets in Geneva annually in October to review and approve UNHCR's programmes and budget, advise on international protection and discuss a wide range of other issues with UNHCR and its intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. ExCom's Standing Committee meets several times each year to carry on ExCom's work between plenary sessions.
With the new members, the Executive Committee of the Programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees currently consists of 76 member States.
