FRCKOVSKI TO PAY 30.000 EUROS
National.
A court in Skopje convicted Ljubomir Frckovski, a professor at Law Faculty, of defamation and ordered him to pay 30.000 euros as civil reparation to Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
The case stems from defamation suit brought forward by Gruevski, who claimed Frckovski had defamed him and seriously hurt his reputation in a column published in Dnevnik daily in 2007.
A1 TV said the criminal court ruled that Frckovski also must pay 2.500 euros in damages within next three months.
In closing statement, the prosecutor demanded that the defendant be convicted of slander and libel and that he be fined 6 million denars.
The defendant claimed that the column was a stance to shed a light on the work of current authorities and politicians in the Okta sellout.
MD: Gruevski has already stated that the money will be given to charity
