NO CHANGES IN US POSITION ON MACEDONIA

Macedonia is strategic partner of the United States, and the contacts in the State Department hint no serious change in the U.S. policy on Macedonia, said Georgi Jolevski, Macedonian Ambassador to Washington.
Ambassador Jolevski, who was recently named Macedonian negotiator in the name row with Greece, told Deutsche Welle that cooperation between Macedonia and the US is at high level and much appreciated.
"The cooperation between the two countries is highly appreciated. The recent meetings of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and senior US officials during his trip to Washington reconfirm the excellent bilateral relations," Jolevski said.
When asked to tell whether he expects a negotiated settlement of the name issue during his tenure, Jolevski declined to give a concrete stance.
"Given the fact that I took up a new duty of negotiator, I certainly believe in positive outcome of the process. Certainly, the settlement requires flexibility by the other party involved in the dispute," Jolevski said.
Thought the process, it is vital that identity, dignity and integrity of Macedonian citizens be protected. It's the only way for Macedonia to join EU and NATO, he added.
