the Greek government pushed for legislation that allowes Albanians of ethnic Greek descent to apply for Greek citizenship.
The decision was adopted upon strong pressure of the Greek Interior and Foreign
Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Dora Bakoyannis. Albanian President Sali Berisha also has supported the move, saying it will only bring the two countries closer together.
