NAME - FOUNDATION FOR OUR IDENTITY

National.

The name Macedonia is a foundation for our identity and it entrenches our unity, Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said in an interview for French newspaper Le Monde.

"Greece denies Macedonia's name due to domestic political reasons. We are suggesting that the international community uses the name Macedonia, and we also suggest that other name be used in bilateral communication with Greece, a name that would suit Athens," Milososki said.

He underlined that Macedonia deserves to get an invitation to NATO membership and to get a starting date for EU accession talks.

"We hope for NATO membership invitation in April during the Alliance's summit in Bucharest," Milososki said, adding that the eventual date of launch of EU entry talks would be good news for the region and a bad news for extremists who want destabilization".

As regards the situation of Albanians in Macedonia once Kosovo declares independence, Milososki said Macedonia has proved that it could function as a multiethnic country.

"It's not perfect, but it functions much better that in other countries, including some old EU members," Milososki told Le Monde.

1/Sadly, it is not certain that the Albanians in concentrated in between Skopje, Tetovo, Gostivar, Derbar wish to lilve in a multiethnic country.
2/The Greeks object to the current name ROM, not due to internal reasons (that is dumb talk). They see that many official circles in Skopje promote an irredentist and threatening ideology against Greek Macedonia - refusing to even acknowledge the existence of a Greek Macedonia. Saddly, there are many such examples. Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria and Albania have solved their population differences. Serbia and ROM are still talking dangerous talk.
