MACEDONIANS WALK OUT OF NATO SUMMIT AFTER REJECTION
National.
Macedonia's delegation walked out of a NATO summit in Bucharest on Thursday after Greece refused to let it join the alliance. "The Macedonian delegation will leave because we feel the need to be with our people ... Greece's irrelevant argument won over the serious needs of the (Western Balkan) region," Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said.
"Today marks the day of defeat of the NATO's principles of freedom, democracy and open-doors policy. The defeat did not took place on the field, where the Macedonian soldiers participate in the Alliance's missions shoulder to shoulder with the troops of the other NATO members, but at a table in Bucharest," Milososki added.
According to him, Macedonia will re-evaluate the Interim Accord with Greece, which is seriously violated by the veto.
The NATO debacle now threatens to derail the negotiating process, with Milososki saying that the Greek veto is a "direct breach" of an interim accord signed between the sides in September 1995, and the Macedonian government "will have to reconsider" its entire approach to the name negotiations.
"Our country is the Republic of Macedonia, and it will remain so for ever," he said.
That appears to leave little room for compromise, or for a rapid NATO accession for Macedonia, since Greece is already a member of the body and therefore has veto rights over its future membership.
"All NATO countries except Greece are favourable and supportive" of Macedonia's accession, but the question of how the alliance should act now "is a matter for NATO," Milososki said.
MD: This is a black day for Macedonia but also for NATO and the Balkans, good thing the Macedonians left the summit and did not bend in front of the Greeks and their pressure! Greek media are celebrating the decision, writing "Karamanlis triumph" in the headlines.

Macedonia for ever? Really? face the truth as stated by your own politicians
a. The former President of The FYROM, Kiro Gligorov said: “We are Slavs who came to this area in the sixth century ... we are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians" (Foreign Information Service Daily Report, Eastern Europe, February 26, 1992, p. 35).
b. Also, Mr Gligorov declared: "We are Macedonians but we are Slav Macedonians. That's who we are! We have no connection to Alexander the Greek and his Macedonia… Our ancestors came here in the 5th and 6th century" (Toronto Star, March 15, 1992).
c. On 22 January 1999, Ambassador of the FYROM to USA, Ljubica Achevska gave a speech on the present situation in the Balkans. In answering questions at the end of her speech Mrs. Acevshka said: "We do not claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great … Greece is Macedonia’s second largest trading partner, and its number one investor. Instead of opting for war, we have chosen the mediation of the United Nations, with talks on the ambassadorial level under Mr. Vance and Mr. Nemitz." In reply to another question about the ethnic origin of the people of FYROM, Ambassador Achevska stated that "we are Slavs and we speak a Slav language.”
d. On 24 February 1999, in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Gyordan Veselinov, FYROM'S Ambassador to Canada, admitted, "We are not related to the northern Greeks who produced leaders like Philip and Alexander the Great. We are a Slav people and our language is closely related to Bulgarian." He also commented, “There is some confusion about the identity of the people of my country."
e. Moreover, the Foreign Minister of the FYROM, Slobodan Casule, in an interview to Utrinski Vesnik of Skopje on December 29, 2001, said that he mentioned to the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Pasi, that they "belong to the same Slav people.”

My home is 1Km away from the king filip's palace. Last time I checked my home was in Greek teritorry and I am sure it will still be greek forever no matter how hard the lost-identity/slavs/skopjans pretend they are "macedonians".
If you want so hard to be Greeks maybe you can ask politely and maybe just maybe we expand our borders to include you as well.

One thing is sure, We will always be Macedonians. The more you hate, the prouder we get. =) <3 Macedonia 4 Life <3

What still surprises me is that you don’t try to see what’s behind this.
You put all your hopes on the Americans. The American’s assured you that you will gain NATO entrance. They made you feel so confident about it. They made you feel like you are ruler of Balkans and nobody can put an end to your will. But this hope was not true.
In the last weeks, we made clear to the Americans and all other allies that if the name issue is not solved then you wont get that invitation. They ignored us, like you did.
And now? You surprised? You complain? Why?
Maybe you should start thinking more deeply about the people that rule you, the government. Why they hide all this from you? Why they made you feel like you were already a NATO member?
Posted by Anonymous | 08:28
Except using these words why don’t you try to discuss about the issue.
In the last 15 years you are not discussing. You are simply rejecting. You act like being the super power of the region!

Dear MD, I respect your anger, but where do you get your news from? The Greek media highlighted that Athens is opening a 'friendship assault' on your country. There is no triumphalism. They want friendship because this will soon end, but we will always be neighbours.

I start think that more Greeks are reading this blog than Slavmacedonians....

It depends!!!
If more Greeks, instead of Slavmacedonians, are reading this blog then the blog failed it’s purpose.

Dear friends, you have to realize that if you wish to become members of NATO and the EU you have to work to establish good and friendly relations with Greece, a historical member of both organizations.
- Printing (unhistorical) maps of "united" macedonia under your rule is not a friendly move (your premier was pretty stupid to take a picture next to this map).
- Attacking the Greek embassy and Greek TV crews, shouting "Greeks are morons" is not a friendly move.
- Posting the Greek flag with a swastika is not a friendly move.
- Showing the Greek prime minister as an SS officer is not friendly either.
These moves were proven to be very bad for your reputation and you foreign policy. The fact that countrie such as France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Italy supported the Greek position is partly the result of these offences.
Back to the name issue, you should know that greeks believe that as young nation you have the right to exist (something serbs and bulgarians deny from you), and we support your economical growth the last decade as much as we can. However, in your attemp to differntiate yourselves from your slav neighbours, you went as far as to cross the line of Hellenic history (Something we are very proud and strict about). The residents of northern Greeks call themselves Macedonians long before you came to the Balkans. The ancient Macedonians were a people who called themselves GREEK by descent, language, culture and religion.
Your people are Slavic, the monopoly on the use of the term Macedonian therefore is abuse. You are slavs racialy, linguistically and culturaly and Macedonian ONLY geographically. That is a fact. It is undoubted and politically and historically correct.
The Greek side compromised from its initial possition not to accept the term "Macedonia" and "Macedonian" to a composite name which would differentiate you from Greek-Macedonians. To the contrary not only you did not compromise but begun an offensive and insulting campaign against Greece. This policy resulted into a VETO.
Your real enemies are the Albanians of Tetovo. If you agree with Greece to find a logical and politically and historically correct solution you will gain a very usefull ally and friend. The biggest country of the Balkans, with the largest and most modern army. You will be safe from any Albanian imperialism. You will gain accesible sea ports and motorways, which will help your national economy. You will be able to spend a weekend in Thessaloniki or Halkidiki without needing a visa. You would be able to enjoy your coffe at the Aristotelous square gaizing at mount Olympus. You will be able to visit the royal tombs in Vergina and the cities of Pella and Dion.
The solution in in your hands. If you accept your (linguisitc, ethnic and cultural) origin to combine with your geographical home, you will gain a very bright future!! I hope soon you will be ready to do so.

Greek: Μακεδονία, Makedonia), is a geographical and historical region of Greece in southeastern Europe. Macedonia is the largest and second most populous Greek region.

Countries are not created by stealing the name, History and Culture from another one. The truth about Macedonia's identity being Greek is confirmed by the Old and New Testament of the Bible, by encyclical issued by Pope John Paul and his predecessors, by ancient Greek, Jewish and Roman writers, and it is also confirmed by international treaties and by Historical Political events which have influenced European and World History

After the battle of Issos, Alexander the Great sent a letter to Darius that read as follows: «Your ancestors came to Macedonia and the rest of Greece and did us much harm though we had done them no prior injury; I have been appointed commander-in-chief of the Greeks and invaded Asia in the desire to take vengeance on Persia for your aggressions. » From this extract it emerges clearly that Alexander regarded Macedonia as a Greek country, identified the sufferings of Macedonia at the hands of the Persians with the destruction they had wrought in southern Greece, and represented himself as the avenger of all these wrongs.

There is no doupt that ancient Macedonians were Greek. It is thoroughly proved by historic documents and archaeological discoveries which can be found in history books and museums in Greece and arround the world. The most important archeological discovery in Macedonia is the tomb of King Philippos II. It was excavated in Vergina, Greece in 1978 and it proves beyond any doubt the Greekness of ancient Macedonia. All the findings are characteristic of the Greek culture and all the inscriptions are written using the Greek language. Among the discoveries of this tomb is the "Vergina sun" the symbol that FYROM attempted to use on its flag initially. Facts which prove that ancient Macedonians were Greek people:
• Macedonians spoke a dialect of the Greek language.
All the monuments and inscriptions found in the Macedonia are written using the Greek language. Take a look at the archaeological discoveries. There is no historic evidence to suggest that the Macedonians were using a different language.
• Macedonians had Greek names.

Alexander the Great (Greek: Αλέξανδρος ο Μέγας or Μέγας Aλέξανδρος,[1][2] Megas Alexandros; July 20 356 BC – June 10 323 BC),[3][4][5] also known as Alexander III, was an ancient Greek[6][7][8] king (basileus) of Macedon (336–323 BC). He was one of the most successful military commanders in history, and was undefeated in battle. By the time of his death, he had conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks.

Born in Pella, capital of Macedon, Alexander was the son of King Philip II of Macedon and of his fourth wife Olympias, an Epirote princess. On his mother's side, he was a second cousin of Pyrrhus of Epirus, who himself would go on to become a celebrated general; thus, there are notable examples of military genius on both sides of his family. According to Plutarch, his father was descended from Heracles through Karanus of Macedon and his mother descended from Aeacus through Neoptolemus and Achilles.[11] Plutarch relates that both Philip and Olympias dreamt of their son's future birth. In Philip's dream, he sealed her womb with the seal of the lion. Alarmed by this, he consulted the seer Aristander of Telmessos, who determined that his wife was pregnant and that the child would have the character of a lion.[12] Another odd coincidence is that the temple of Artemis in Ephesus was set afire on the night of his birth. Plutarch's explanation is that the Gods were too busy watching over Alexander to care for the temple.

Alexander......was king of Macedonia and one of the greatest generals in history. He conquered much of what was then the civilized world. Alexander brought Greek ideas and the Greek way of doing things to all the countries he conquered. This great general and king made possible the broadly developed culture of the Hellenistic Age......
Alexander was born in Pella, Macedonia, the son of Philip of Macedon, who was an excellent general and organizer. His mother was Olympias, princess of Epirus.
She was brilliant and hot-tempered. Alexander inherited the best qualities of both his parents. But he was even more ambitious than his father. He wept bitterly when he heard of Philip's conquests and said, " My father will get ahead of me in everything, and will leave nothing great for me to do." Alexander's mother taught him that Achilles was his ancestor, and that his father was descended from Hercules. Alexander learned by heart the Iliad, a story about the deeds of Achilles. He carried a copy of the Iliad with him, and Achilles became Alexander's model .

In 335B.C. as general of the Greeks in a campaign against the Persians, originally planned by his father, he carried out a successful campaign against the defeating Thracains, penetrating to the Danube River. On his return he crushed in a single week the threatening Illyrians and then hastened to Thebes, which had revolted. He took the city by storm and razed it, sparing only the temples of the gods and the houses of the Greek lyric poet Pindar, and selling the surviving inhabitants, about 8000 in number, into slavery. Alexander's promptness in crushing the revolt of Thebes brought the other Greek states into instant and abject submission.

Alexander the Great
Alexander was born on 356 B.C. He was born in Pella the ancient capital of Macedonia, was the son of Philip II, king of Macedonia, and of Olympias, a princess of Epirus. His tutor was Aristotle, who trained him in rhetoric and literature and stimulated his interest in science, medicine and philosophy.
Unfortunately in the summer of 336 B.C. his father was assassinated and he ascended to the Macedainian throne. Also unfortunate was that by that time he found his empire in disorder. He had enemies all over, in home and people threatening rebellion abroad. He did quickly deal with this by killing all of the threats and restoring order to his small empire. Then he restored order to Thessaly which had attempted independence. Before the end of summer he had reestablished his position in Greece and was elected by a congress of states at Corinth.

• Why FYROM should not be named "Macedonia"
# FYROM's residents have no historical cultural or linguistic ties with ancient Macedonia.
# The heart of ancient Macedonia was not in the teritory which FYROM occupies but in the Greek part of Macedonia were all the major archaeological discoveries took place.
# The name "Republic of Macedonia implies a teritorial threat against Greece and other countries and it creates a great risk of renewed ethnic conflict in the Balkans.
# The area of FYROM was never called "Macedonia" before the 2nd World War. This name was given to the Southern Yugoslavian providence by General Tito aiming to create conflicts in the region and to obtain Greek and Bulgarian teritories. Before the 2nd World War FYROM was called Vardarska.

Dear fellow Greeks…
Repeating all these large documents will convince nobody. Slav Macedonians simply ignore them. The people that are actually reading this is new generation that studied the history in the “new way”.
Instead of documents… let’s see what their president was saying back in 3rd of June 1992

FYROM: The area of FYROM in known as Paionia in ancient years and todays Vardarska. The newly Slavic Nation came in area in 600 A.D. and 1000 years later of Alexander's The Great dead. Till 1944 this nation don't claim anything about Macedonia's Greek name but that happen with Tito idea for Slavic nation to expansion in Aegean and from cold seas of Russia to access the hot seas. Overview, this slavic nation came in area in 6th century and till 1944 is known as Yugoslavian Province with the name of Vardarska. In 1944 Yugoslavian Tito turn to make a propaganda against Macedonia. The fast made of New (Slavic-Bulgarian) FYROM Language. That language include 80% bulgarians and 20% slavics. After the break of Yugoslavia in 1992 the FYROM born and the first FYROM's president said:
February 26, 1992: The FYROM's President Kirov Gligorov, at an interview by the Foreign Information Service daily report, Eastern Europe, stated: "We are Slavs, who came to the region in the sixth century. We are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians.
Note that the present newly nation of FYROM don't take a part in Balkan wars and at that time they are Slavs.
FYROM want to stole the Greek History in the case that this is the only way of them to survive in Area.
FYROM population and statistics:
2.200.000 millions TOTAL
1.000.000 FYROMIANS (Slavic-Bulgarians)
900.000 Albanians
200.000 Greeks
50.000 Serbians
50.000 Turkish
In 1993 FYROM force Albanians and Greeks to sign as FYROMians or something else like Slavs or Romanians under terror.
Todays political party of FYROM was a terrorist Bulgarian organization in Balkan wars, today is exist a political party in Bulgaria with many years of history with this name and at same time created a new one in FYROM with the same bulgarian historic name but on the same way that they don't have any contact each others.
In FYROM there are NO human rights...
Bulgaria SUPPORT the Greek Veto in Romania's meeting of NATO.

Rep. Maloney on Possible NATO Expansion
to Include FYROM
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) yesterday delivered a statement on the floor of the House of Representatives expressing her view that the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) must cease using the name “Republic of Macedonia,” adopt a name mutually acceptable to both countries, and end its use of propaganda before it is admitted to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Rep. Maloney, Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, also said that the “negotiation process among representatives from Greece and the FYROM should continue, and I hope that a settlement can be reached soon.”
The full text of Maloneys remarks follows.
Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-14)
April 1, 2008
Madam Speaker, I rise today to discuss the name dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
As a founder and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, this issue is of tremendous importance to me. All historical and archaeological evidence demonstrates that the ancient Macedonians were Greek. Macedonia is a Greek name that has designated the northern area of Greece for 2,500 years.
In 1944, the name of the Skopje region was changed to Macedonia as part of Tito s imperialist campaign to gain control of the Greek province of Macedonia. The United States opposed Tito s use of the name Macedonia at that time. However, in November 2004, unilaterally and without warning, the Administration decided to recognize the FYROM as Macedonia.
I was shocked and disappointed that the White House went against prior U.S. policy to recognize the FYROM as Macedonia just two days after the 2004 U.S. presidential election and before talks were completed among the nations most directly affected by the outcome. Along with former Representative Michael Bilirakis, we and sixty-eight of our colleagues sent a letter to former Secretary of State Colin Powell expressing our concerns with this decision and requesting that the State Department return to the longstanding policy of referring to the FYROM as such. I also organized a meeting with the American ambassador to discuss the situation.
I believe that the name Macedonia properly belongs to Greek culture and therefore should not be used by any other country. Greek Macedonia is one of the oldest civilizations known to man and the history of this name should be recognized and respected.
I, along with Representatives Bilirakis, Sarbanes, and Space, have introduced legislation, H. Res. 356, which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the FYROM should stop the utilization of materials that violate provisions of the UN-brokered Interim Agreement between the FYROM and Greece regarding hostile activities or propaganda and should work with the United Nations and Greece to achieve longstanding United States and United Nations policy goals of finding a mutually-acceptable official name for the FYROM. This bipartisan resolution has 114 cosponsors.
Just this week a billboard was erected in Skopje that depicts the Greek flag with a swastika in place of the Cross. This is just another example of the propaganda that is being perpetrated against Greek culture in the FYROM. Textbooks used in schools contain maps showing the boundaries of a larger Macedonia that include parts of Greece. Additionally, the government has minted currency showing The White Tower of Thessaloniki. This unacceptable irredentist propaganda must come to an end.
