EUROPEAN FUNDS FOR CULTURE OPEN TO MACEDONIA
Culture.
A seminar and a workshop on the European Union Programme for Culture 2007 – 2013, held in organization of the Ministry of Culture and KKT (Cultural and Contact Point of Macedonia), promoted a guide-manual intended for cultural institutions. The guide is a European Union paper, a manual describing the procedure of applying with the European funds in the area of culture.
According to Biljana Prentoska of KKT, the new guide 2007-2013 is much simplified because the European Commission made effort last year to simplify the procedure for application and the application itself. Cultural operators, not only national and local but the non-governmental secrot and private profit-earning organization in the area of culture (on condition that they do not profit from the particular project) may apply within the Programme 2007-2013 with projects with European dimension and values.
Three projects were selected within the application invitation for 2008. Macedonia became the full-fledged member of the network of cultural points in January by signing a memorandum. However, the country was involved in the Programme even before as an associated member country. So far, the invitation for 2009 has seen two non-governmental organizations applying with projects.
