UNDERAGE MARRIAGES PROBLEM IN DEBAR
National.
Underage marriages are one of the major problems of the Roma community in Debar.
This is the conclusion of today's panel discussion in Debar, set up by the Foundation Open Society Institute–Macedonia (FOSIM) in cooperation with the Center for Community Sustainable Development.
The participants of the discussion said the tough economic situation is one of the main reasons for the marriages between Roma minors.
The consequences of this phenomenon are dropping out of school, health problems in Roma girls that entered marriage, as well as high divorce rate.
